11 days circuit with relax on Caribbean beach

The Aztecs, Mesoamerica’s most powerful empire, and the Maya, its most sophisticated civilization, are the focus of this fascinating tour. You will have the opportunity to visit another mysterious nation, who lived in Teotihuacan and whose culture influenced the whole of Mesoamerica. Combining history with the beauty of nature, we will visit marvellous places, such as Sumidero canyon, Aqua Azul or the Misolha waterfalls. You will see the contemporary Indian communities in Zinancantan or San Juan Chamule and also one of the most beautiful colonial towns in Latin America, San Cristóbal de las Casas, situated nearly 2,000 m above sea level. You will be inspired by the beautiful nature of Chiapas with its tropical jungle; here you will encounter monkeys, crocodiles, toucans and other rare bird species. You will admire the famous and allegedly the most beautiful kingdom in Palenque, travel by boat along the Usumacinta river up to the ancient site of Yaxchilan and climb the highest Mayan pyramids in Tikalu, Guatemala. You will follow a track through the best preserved primeval tropical forest in Latin America and spend the night in cabañas in the Indian community of Lacadones. We will explain how the sacred Mayan calendar works, and at the end of the tour we will visit Caye Caulker in Belize, a magical Caribbean island, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Rastaman culture and ever-present reggae. Once the tour is over, you can relax for a few days on the Caribbean white-sand beaches in Playa del Carmen. A professional guide available for the entire tour.

1st day: arrival in Mexico City / check in
Air travel from your country to Mexiko City, welcome by a tour guide and transfer to a 3/4* hotel in the center of Mexico City.

2nd day: Mexico City / City Tour
A halfday walking tour around the city center includes seeing the cathedral, Zócalo, Templo Mayor – remains of a former Azteca temple, palace with murals by Diego Rivera, walk through the city along the best known avenue Paseo Reforma, the possibility of an optional visit to the Museum of Antropology, late afternoon free for your own activities, staying overnight in Mexico City

3rd day: Mexico City / Basilika / Teotihuacan The whole day trip to Teotihuacan, a mysterious city which exercised great power over the whole of Mesoamerica between 200 – 700 A. D. and later became an Aztec cult center. It is still possible to see the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, the Avenue of the Dead or the Temple of Quetzalcoatl. On the way back to Mexico City a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadeloupe, overnight in Mexico City

4th day: air travel to Villahermosa / La Venta / Palenque
In the morning flight from Mexico City to Villahermosa, then transfer to Palenque, check in to a 3* hotel. In the case of a flight in the morning  there is the possibility of an optional visit to La Venta with the remnants of the Olmek civilazation which is considered to be a predecessor of the Mayans.


5th day: Palenque / Campeche In the morning a visit to a famous Maya kingdom in Palenque, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful Mayan cities. We will visit the Temple of the Inscriptions where the tomb of the best known Mayan king Pakal was found. You will see the Temple of the Red Queen, the Temple of the Cross, Temple of the Sun as well as the Royal Palace. Then follows a transfer to Campeche a colonial town built on the sea shore and fortified against the raids of pirates. Accommodation in a 3* hotel in the town center

6th day: Campeche / Uxmal / Merid In the morning transfer to Uxmal and sightseeing around this significant Mayan kingdom which was built in Puuc architecture style whose typical features include rich ornaments on fasades of the Pyramid of the Magician, Nun’s Quadrangle, Governor’s Palace or the Great Pyramid. Then follows transfer to the colonial town of Merida, sightseeing around the town which was built in the 16th century by Spanish conquistadors on the remnants of a Mayan kingdom.

7th day:  Merida / Chichén Itzá / Playa Early in the morning transfer to Chichén Itzá, visit to the most famous Mayan pyramids which have been classified as some of contemporary wonders of the world, namely the Pyramid of Kukulkan, Temple of the Warriors, Caracol or Observatory, the largest perserved playground for the sacred ball game pelota, the Sacred Well… Transfer to Playa del Carmen

8th day: Playa del Carmen The whole day free for your own activities, swimming, accommodation with breakfast in a 3* hotel in the center of Playa del Carmen only approximately 10 minutes away from the sea

9th day:  Playa del Carmen The whole day free for your own activities, swimming, rest, the possibility of optional trips to Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres  or Xcaret

10th day:  Playa del Carmen The whole day free for your own activities, swimming, rest, the possibility of optional trips to see the pyramids in Tulúm and Cobá

11th day: Playa del Carmen Morning free for your own activities, swimming, check out from the hotel at 12:00, in the afternoon transfer to the airport in Cancunu

Price: 1.235,- USD/ per person in a double bed room, in a group of 8 participants

(It is possible to adjust the tour or extend the stay in Riviera Maya for a fixed group of participants travelling together)
